I live in London with my two daughters. One has now left home and has children of her own. Professionally I work in I.T. but I have been writing stories for many years. I first obtained success as a poet. I won several poetry prizes and have been published.

 

When my daughters were young, I found it almost impossible to find books for them with black lead characters. The stories I found were great, but the people in them just didn't look like them. All the great adventures they had, and the wonderous places they visited, seemed to be for other people.

 

Why should that be, I thought.

 

I decided that if books like that didn’t exist, then I would create them. It may be too late for my kids, but for their kids, and all the others out there; they would grow up with something different.
